How much does a Rapido captain earn?
Rapido says a bike captain can earn up to ₹150 an hour, which adds up to around ₹1,500 a day or ₹30,000 a month. The day figure is 10 hours at that rate, and the month figure is 20 such days, so you can scale it to the hours you plan to ride.
Real numbers sit close to that. In January 2026, Storyboard18 reported the earnings a part-time Rapido captain in Bengaluru shared online:
- Hours and distance: about 17 hours over 4 days, mostly after 10 PM, covering 200 km on a Super Splendor.
- Earnings: ₹630, ₹750, ₹420 and ₹420 on the four days, about ₹2,220 in all, or roughly ₹130 an hour.
- After petrol: around ₹400 of petrol, leaving roughly ₹1,820, or about ₹107 an hour.
That was a few hours a night in one city. Busy times bring more rides: a Rapido report on Hyderabad in February 2026 said office and college commutes drive its peak hours.
How much does Rapido pay per km?
A Rapido bike captain earns about ₹8 to ₹11 per km, depending on the city and the time of day. There is no single national rate: each state sets the base fare, and the app’s fare moves with demand.
Here is where that range comes from:
- The state fare. Maharashtra, for example, set bike-taxi fares at ₹15 for the first 1.5 km and ₹10.27 per km after that, Business Today reported in September 2025. At an 80% share, that is about ₹8.20 per km for the captain.
- Busy hours. The central government’s 2025 guidelines let apps charge up to twice the base fare at peak times, so per-km pay rises when demand is high.
- A real example. The Bengaluru captain above earned about ₹2,220 over 200 km, around ₹11 per km before petrol, with night incentives included.

How much commission does Rapido take from captains?
A captain on their own bike keeps at least 80% of each fare under the Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines 2025, which say a driver who brings their own vehicle gets at least 80% of the fare (Deccan Herald explains the rules). States adopt these guidelines into their own rules.
In practice, captains keep between 80% and 100% of the fare:
- Up to 20% to the platform. Outlook Business reported in 2024 that Rapido kept 20% of each bike-taxi fare and passed 80% to the captain.
- Sometimes all of it. The Bengaluru captain in Storyboard18’s January 2026 report said no commission was taken from his earnings.
How do Rapido captain incentives work?
Rapido pays daily and weekly incentives on top of your ride earnings, so a busy day or week is worth more than its rides alone. Night rides can earn an estimated 20% extra: the Bengaluru captain mentioned a 20% night fare incentive from 10 PM to 6 AM.
- Daily and weekly incentives. Rapido lists them as part of what captains earn. They are linked to the rides you complete in a day or a week.
- Night rides. Up to 20% extra on fares between 10 PM and 6 AM, as reported in Bengaluru in January 2026.
- Busy hours. Peak-time fares can go up to twice the base fare, which lifts what each ride pays.
Incentive amounts are estimates. They change by city, season, weather and demand, so two weeks rarely pay the same.
What does a Rapido bike captain take home?
At Rapido’s top rate, a bike captain takes home an estimated ₹125 an hour after petrol, around ₹1,250 for a 10-hour day or ₹25,000 for 20 such days in a month. This estimate uses Rapido’s ₹150 an hour and the petrol cost the Bengaluru captain reported.
How the estimate works:
- Petrol per km. About ₹400 for 200 km is around ₹2 per km.
- Km per hour. 200 km in 17 hours is about 12 km an hour, so petrol is around ₹24 an hour.
- Take-home per hour. ₹150 minus about ₹24 leaves around ₹125 an hour.

How do Rapido captains get paid?
Rapido adds your earnings to your Captain wallet automatically after each ride, and you move the money from the wallet to your bank account.
- Bank account. Add a bank account in your own name for your transfers.
- Insurance. Rapido says captains and their families get accident and medical cover of up to ₹5 lakh.

A little planning helps you earn more from your first week:
- Keep your papers ready. Rapido asks for a driving licence, RC, PAN or Aadhaar and a profile photo. Our Rapido captain registration guide covers each step and who can join.
- Joining costs. Rapido says you can join as a captain free of cost. For rider apps in general, joining costs depend on the brand and the city: free in many cities, a one-time joining or kit fee in some. Never pay any person or outside link for a job.
- Budget for petrol and data. Around ₹2 per km for petrol, plus a mobile data pack for the app.
- Carry a spare helmet. Your passenger rides with one too, so keep it with you on every trip.
- Ride at busy times. Office hours and late nights bring more rides, and night fares can pay an estimated 20% extra.
- No bike? Rent an EV. Rapido says captains in Hyderabad and Delhi can rent an electric bike from Rapido. In other cities you need your own bike.
