What are the basic Uber driver requirements for a bike?
You need to be at least 18, hold a valid driving licence for a two-wheeler and own or use a bike that meets Uber’s vehicle rules. You also clear a background screening during sign-up.
Here is the full list in one place:
- Age: 18 years or older
- Licence: a permanent two-wheeler driving licence (a learner’s licence is not enough)
- Vehicle: a motorcycle or scooter, petrol or electric, model year 2010 or newer
- Smartphone: Android or iPhone with GPS and mobile data
- Bank account: in your own name, for your payouts
- Background screening: part of the sign-up process
No earlier driving job is needed. Many new captains start with only their own bike and a licence.
What documents do you need for Uber Moto?
You need six documents and a selfie: Aadhaar, PAN, driving licence, the bike’s RC, its insurance and your bank details. Keep clear photos of each on your phone before you start, so uploading takes a few minutes.
| Document | What it’s for |
|---|---|
| Aadhaar card | Your identity and address |
| PAN card (or e-PAN) | Your identity and payouts |
| Driving licence | Proof you can ride a two-wheeler |
| RC (registration certificate) | Proof of the bike’s registration; it can be in a family member’s name |
| Insurance | Active cover for the bike, at least third-party |
| Bank passbook or cancelled cheque | Where your earnings are paid |
| Live selfie | Matches your face to your documents |
Our Uber Moto driver registration guide walks through the upload screens one by one.
Which bikes are allowed on Uber Moto?
Any motorcycle or scooter of model year 2010 or newer that seats one passenger behind you can qualify. Uber’s vehicle rules also say the bike must not be salvaged or rebuilt.
A few simple points:
- Geared or gearless both work. A commuter motorcycle or a scooter with a proper pillion seat is fine.
- Electric bikes can join too. Our guide to Uber Moto electric bike eligibility covers EV rules and running costs.
- Keep it in good shape. Working lights, indicators, horn and brakes make your bike ready for passengers.
- The RC can be in a family member’s name. Many captains ride a bike owned by a parent or sibling.
What safety gear does an Uber Moto driver need?
You need two helmets: one for you and one for your passenger. Before trips, Uber can ask two-wheeler drivers for a quick selfie wearing their helmet, a feature Uber announced in late 2024.
ISI-marked helmets are the safe choice for both of you. A phone holder on the handlebar makes navigation easy. A reflective vest helps at night. Our Uber Moto helmet and vest guide lists what to buy and what it costs.
How do you meet the requirements and start driving?
Once you meet the requirements, sign-up takes five simple steps:
- Check your age and licence. You’re 18 or older with a permanent two-wheeler licence.
- Get your documents ready. Take clear photos of Aadhaar, PAN, licence, RC, insurance and bank details.
- Sign up as a Moto driver. Use your mobile number and the OTP you receive.
- Upload documents and a selfie. Your details are reviewed and your account is activated.
- Go online and take your first ride. Start near a busy area during the morning or evening rush.

Is there a joining fee? It depends on the city. In many cities signing up for Uber Moto is free, and in some a one-time charge for gear or a kit may apply. Never pay any person or outside link for a job. Our page on Uber Moto joining fees has the detail.
How much can you earn once you meet the requirements?
Uber Moto captains earn an estimated ₹20,000–40,000 a month, depending on the hours they ride, their city and how many trips they take. Busy morning and evening hours bring the most rides.
You can cash out your earnings up to four times a day, a feature Uber added in late 2024, and weekly payouts go to your bank account. Our Uber bike driver salary guide breaks down earnings by hours and city.
