You sign up with your mobile number and an OTP, choose a two-wheeler, upload your documents and wait for approval, which Uber says takes up to 48 hours. Then you tap GO and start taking Uber Moto rides.

Which Uber app do bike drivers use?
Bike taxi drivers use the Uber Driver app. There is no separate bike app: during sign-up you simply choose a two-wheeler as your vehicle, and the same app then sends you bike ride requests.
Uber’s bike taxi service has been called Uber Moto since it started in India. In 2025 Uber renamed it Uber Bike and began taking it to more cities, so you may see either name. Both mean the same thing for you: one passenger on the back of your motorbike or scooter.
The normal Uber app (the one with the “Where to?” box) is for passengers. You can’t take rides from it, so make sure you install the app named Uber Driver.
How do I download the Uber Driver app and sign up for a bike?
You can be ready to ride in six steps:
- Install Uber Driver. It’s free on Google Play for Android phones and on the App Store for iPhones. Look for Uber as the developer name before you tap Install.
- Sign up with your number. Enter your mobile number and type in the OTP you receive by SMS.
- Choose your city and a two-wheeler. Pick the city you’ll ride in and select bike (Moto) as the way you want to earn.
- Upload your documents. Take clear photos of the originals: driving licence first, then your bike’s RC, insurance and a profile photo. Add your ID and bank details when asked.
- Wait for approval. Uber says document checks can take up to 48 hours.
- Take a helmet selfie and tap GO. Uber asks two-wheeler drivers to take a quick selfie with their helmet on before trips. Then go online and accept your first ride.

Uber also announced Quickstart in October 2026, which lets new drivers start joining over WhatsApp. Either way, your account and rides run through the Uber Driver app.
Our Uber Moto driver registration guide covers who can join and each document in more detail.
What documents does the Uber Driver app ask for?
The app asks for your driving licence, your bike’s registration certificate (RC), vehicle insurance and a profile photo. You also add an ID such as Aadhaar and your bank account, where your earnings are sent.
Tips that make approval quick:
- Upload your driving licence first. Uber says this speeds up matching your other documents.
- Photograph the originals. Uber doesn’t accept photocopies.
- Show the whole document. All four corners in the frame, with every detail easy to read.
- One document at a time. Upload each image or PDF on its own.
- Same name everywhere. Your name on the licence, ID and bank account should match.
How do I log in to the Uber Driver app?
Open Uber Driver, enter the mobile number you signed up with and type in the OTP. Log in on the phone you’ll carry on every ride, because the app uses your live location to send you nearby requests.
If the login doesn’t go through:
- Waiting for the OTP? Move to a spot with good signal and keep SMS open. The OTP usually arrives in under a minute.
- App acting slow? Update Uber Driver to the latest version and restart your phone.
- Changed your number? Use the number linked to your driver account; a new number needs your account details updated first.

What can you do in the Uber Driver app?
Once you’re approved, the whole job runs from the app:
| Feature | What it does for you |
|---|---|
| GO button | Go online whenever you want; there are no fixed shifts |
| Ride requests | Accept nearby bike rides and get turn-by-turn directions |
| Helmet selfie | A quick photo with your helmet on before trips, for safety |
| Earnings | A weekly breakdown of every ride and what you earned |
| Cash out | Move your earnings to your bank up to 4 times a day |
| Drive Pass | A pass you buy to drive, from 6 hours up to 180 days |
| Safety tools | Audio recording and, in some cities, a women-rider preference for women drivers |
How the pass works. Uber moved its drivers in India, including bike drivers, to a subscription model in 2025: you buy a pass and keep nearly all of each fare. In October 2026 Uber added passes from 6 hours to 180 days, so part-timers can buy a short one and full-timers a long one.
How you get paid. Earnings go to your bank every week, and you can cash out sooner when you need money. Our guide to Uber driver weekly payout explains the payout week, and Uber instant cashout rules covers daily cash-outs.
How much can you earn with the Uber Driver app on a bike?
A bike taxi rider on Uber can earn an estimated ₹20,000–40,000 a month. Your total depends on how many hours you ride, how many trips you complete and how busy your city is.
Morning and evening office hours bring the most ride requests, and rain and late evenings often bring higher fares. Our Uber bike driver salary guide breaks down how fares add up.
Good to know before you start
- Keep a spare helmet. You carry a helmet for your passenger on every ride. Our Uber Moto helmet and vest guide lists the safety kit.
- Joining costs depend on your city. In many cities joining is free, and in some a one-time kit fee applies. The Drive Pass is separate, and you choose its length. Never pay any person or outside link for an Uber ID.
- Set up your phone well. A phone mount, a power bank and a daily data pack keep the app running all day.
- Keep your papers valid. A current licence, RC and insurance keep your account active without breaks.
- Start with the busy hours. Your first week goes faster when you ride the morning and evening peaks.
- Bike taxi rules depend on your state. Uber offers bike rides in the cities where it’s allowed.
